On the morning of Saturday, October 16th, 2004 I am going to be climbing onto my bike in Carmel to ride down the Pacific Coast Highway to the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA.
In One Day! You might spend that day sleeping in, shopping, going out for a late lunch and I am going to be peddling for hours! I will have been on my bike since dawn to support Best Buddies and more than 250 million people with intellectual disabilities.
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in 1989, dedicated to helping people with intellectual disabilities form friendships and find jobs in their community.
I am looking to you to help me reach my fundraising goal of $1,650. I am looking for donations of all sizes, either a predetermined amount or a per mile amount.
Ideas:
$0.50 a mile = $50.00
$1.00 a mile = $100.00 (This entitles you to a free official Best Buddies T-Shirt with the Keith Haring logo and one raffle ticket for a chance to win two tickets to the post-ride BBQ on October 16th at the Hearst Ranch)
$2.00 a mile = $200.00 (This entitles you to the free T-Shirt and a raffle ticket AND a personalized "Thank You" from Anthony Kennedy Shriver)
Unlike many fundraisers, 100% of the funds I raise will go directly to Best Buddies. Any contribution you can spare will go a long way to my achieving this goal, but if you donate $100 Best Buddies will send you a complimentary t-shirt. And donating has never been easier!
